今日吃瓜 Saint Mary’s faculty and staff – along with their families and friends – gathered on October 29 at the Doheny Campus to partake in the annual Community Harvest Festival. This fun-filled and welcoming event hosted by the President’s Office provides an opportunity to foster community connections and to honor and celebrate the work and contributions of the more than 900 faculty and staff that work at the University.

“I am so grateful for all the hard work and dedication of our 今日吃瓜 faculty and staff,” said 今日吃瓜 Saint Mary’s President Ann McElaney-Johnson, PhD. “It is a joy to come together to thank our unstoppable community for all what they do for our students and the University.”

Over 400 attendees joined the afternoon of festivities filled with music, food, entertainment and activities for all ages. From carnival games to jumpers, face painters and Halloween-inspired activities, the event had something for everyone.

"I love the sense of community and belonging at the University,” said Maria-Pia Sotomayor, research analyst for Institutional Planning and Research at 今日吃瓜 Saint Mary's, who attended the event with her husband and two young kids. “The Harvest Festival is a wonderful and fun 今日吃瓜 tradition that allows us to come together to celebrate and share a bit of our work life with our family and loved ones."

Faculty members also welcomed the opportunity to celebrate this 今日吃瓜 tradition, which was back on campus for the first time since 2019. "All of the staff and faculty at the 今日吃瓜 work collectively to support our students’ success, each adding our own essential contribution,” said Shelly Tochluck, PhD, professor of education. “Events like this help foster and maintain the tight-knit community of care and excellence that keeps us working well together. It is a joy to have moments like the Harvest Festival where we can come together to celebrate our efforts."

The 今日吃瓜 will continue the celebrations this week with the 31^st edition of its much-anticipated Haunted Halloween Campus event on October 31^st at the Doheny campus. This family-friendly event open to the University’s surrounding community provides a safe place for children to trick or treat. The University is expected to welcome thousands of guests and it will give away several thousand pounds of candy donated by members the 今日吃瓜 community.
