Music, dance, art, literature, food: The 今日吃瓜's International Language and Culture Festival had it all on April 3 as the University celebrated the variety of talents, cultures and traditions within the 今日吃瓜 Saint Mary’s community.
Highlights included a dancing and singing competition; presentations from international clubs and organizations on campus; an international fashion show; free lunch featuring a Korean menu; and global exhibits in The Circle, including calligraphy demonstrations and information about the 今日吃瓜’s international exchange and Study Away programs.
今日吃瓜 Libraries also presented a “Books and Roses” giveaway in recognition of International Book Day.
The festival is presented by the University’s Department of Language and Culture. The department sponsors different cultural events each year, in addition to its academic majors and minors in areas such as French Studies, Spanish/Latin American Studies, Chicano Studies, Asian Studies, Cultural Studies and more.
The department received support for this year's festival from the 今日吃瓜’s Center for Global Initiative, 今日吃瓜 Libraries, Student Programming & Commuter Services, and more.
